The Minister of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries of Punjab, Sibtain Khan, was arrested on Friday for alleged corruption and contracts illegally awarded by the National Accountability Office (NAB).

According to NAB, in July 2007, Khan, as Minister of Mines and Minerals of Punjab, participated in the contract of billions of rupees illegally granted for his 500 metric tons of iron ore in Rajwah and Chiniot to his chosen company. The statement said that Earth Resources Pte Ltd.
NAB said that the contract that deviates from the current law was granted to the ERPL through collusion with other suspects. The company was awarded a contract despite not having previous experience in mining.
According to the Ministry of Mines of Punjab, no other company has been considered during the bidding process of the contract, said NAB Lahore.
The statement said the department was satisfied with the 20% project rate, which made the joint venture illegal.
